Typhon sees the band’s first use of harsh vocals in about 8 years, and it’s a pretty great return. This song is just fantastic and sticks with you. Uthark Runa has a great opening to it, and is overall a really cool track but the male chorus vocals don’t sound great to me. The ending is fantastic though. Three Ships Of Berik, Pt. 1 and 2 make up a really cool song altogether. The first part has some more great harsh vocals, and a neat fairytale air to it. The second part is just a fun, happy little track.

Lemuria is a slightly softer song, more atmospheric. The vocals make this song. Quetzalcoatl has an amazing chorus, but the rest of the song doesn’t quite match it. The Dreams Of Swedenborg is a very great song, I just love the feel of it. An Arrow From The Sun is beautiful, the vocals and instruments work together perfectly to give this haunting, transcendent atmosphere.

Abraxas is a very fun song, but it doesn’t stick with me like some of the other songs on here. Feuer Overtüre/Prometheus Entfesselt feels like it takes some cues from Rammstein, and then does them better than that band ever did. The riff is just fantastic, and the vocals are great. This album is just beautiful when all is said and done. One or two tracks may not be ‘amazing’ but they’re certainly nowhere near bad.

Final Rating: 9/10
