New Girl is pretty much a defining song of my childhood. I played the living crap out of the first Tony Hawk game and this song was always the first to play each time you booted it up, and was one of the only ones that was short enough to get through its entire runtime in the 2-minute time limit. Such a fantastic song. S.O.S. is good as well with a very cool chorus. Break The Glass also has a great chorus and the ending is neat.

No Face is a more laid back ska song and it’s done really well. Hey is one of only two songs on here to have a horn section, and after the misleading intro (not a bad thing though) the song is a lot of fun. Our Time is pretty good. Too Much has a cool vocal line, but the switch to the ska section kind of feels unnatural. Islands is great, I love the chorus. The Real You has a section I’ve definitely heard used before (though this may be the earliest version of it I’ve heard) and is what makes the song so memorable.

Face Values is a fantastic little song. Punk Out is alright, just not up to the level of the rest of the album. Vans Song is track number 2 with horns, and despite the cheesy lyrics it’s pretty much a classic. Insecurities is okay, I feel like more could have been done with it though. Inside/Outside is decent, it’s a mishmash of ideas and I’m not really fond of any of them. Zero continues the trend of mediocre tracks in the last stretch.

So Long however is fairly good. Then there is a brief bit of silence before I Don’t Wanna Hear It, a cover of a Minor Threat song that is okay but has some pretty base lyrics. I really enjoy listening to this album, it’s a good length and has a lot of great tracks.

Final Rating: 8/10
