Twilight Of The Thunder God is an incredibly strong opening track with a cool riff, extremely memorable chorus, and some cool lyrics. I really like this song a whole lot. Free Will Sacrifice also contains a great main riff, and the chorus again excels. Guardians Of Asgaard kicks it up a notch by having both of those things again, and this is probably the best track so far on the album. My favorite thing about this band is when they inject some emotion into their tracks, like in this one.

Where Is Your God? has some vocal lines but otherwise I’m not a very big fan of this track. Varyags Of Miklagaard is a fair bit better though, the guitars stand out this time. Tattered Banners And Bloody Flags is alright, but it just doesn’t live up to the standard set by the first few tracks. No Fear For The Setting Sun works fairly well but I feel like it could have been trimmed a bit, and I don’t say that often. I just lose interest by the end.

The Hero has one good idea in the lyrics but doesn’t seem to go anywhere with it. Just a bland song. Live For The Kill is different memorable simply by way of cellos. Adding them to the track gives it some extra flair, and I wish the band would experiment some more with using strings or keys. Embrace Of The Endless Ocean is a slightly larger song, that takes its time and contemplates its pacing. Unlike the earlier song, this is actually a pretty good length. A pretty strong way to end this album. This entire thing is solid, minus those couple of songs in the middle, but only one or two of them really stick out to me when I think of Amon Amarth and their best songs.

Final Rating: 7.5/10
