Earth’s Old Timid Grace is a really cool, calm opening track. Acoustic guitars especially accentuate the feeling of loneliness and the wild that is depicted on the cover. Banished gets immediately into the heavier stuff, and it’s the type of black metal I can zone out to. I just get lost in it and enjoy the atmosphere. There may be issues with the production or some of the vocals, but those kind of fade back as I simply enjoy the music.

Awaiting The Fire Or Flood That Awakes It is more good stuff. I really enjoy the acoustic interludes as well. Nonesuch River Chant is a short little acoustic track. It’s a nice bridging piece. Silence has a great intro, I also really like how the last couple minutes build up higher and higher. The Cormorants Shiver On Their Rocks is in the same vein as the first track. It’s a good instrumental that again strongly evokes the atmosphere the whole album is trying to convey. This is a type of album that I don’t memorize or sing along to but is nice to listen to.

Final Rating: 7.5/10
