The Shrouded Divine has a good intro, and is a cool mix of some proggy riffs and some death metal sections. The ending is also nice and calm. I don’t like the filtered drums that Amnesia starts with, but the rest of the song is pretty cool and leaves me wondering why I don’t listen to these guys more often. In The Failing Hour has a lot of cool stuff going on but my favorite has to be the guitars in the chorus, and the mix of vocals is nice to boot.

By Others Considered has a couple different sections in it which keeps things fresh. The guitar break also sounds incredibly similar to the intro track on Manticora’s Black Circus album, which is interesting. Grind Denial has some decent riffs but isn’t terribly interesting otherwise. The Art Of A Mourning Kind has a good intro but unfortunately the rest of the song doesn’t quite live up to it. Not entirely sure why.

The Black Lodge is a good song that has cool things going on in it, but it doesn’t quite stick with me like some of the other tracks on here. Past October Skies (The Black Lodge Revisited) is a bit more memorable, especially some of the vocals used. It’s a strong end to the album, however the back half of the album overall doesn’t strike me as much as the first half. I definitely need to hear more from these guys, they have a neat sound and this is a very enjoyable album.

Final Rating: 7.5/10
