Svarta Änkan has a tremendous opening and the vocals work wonders. The whole song is driving and powerful, and feels fresh while retaining the classic Falconer feeling. The only bad thing I could say is that the last minute or so is unnecessary. Dimmornas Drottning has a cool opening and the folk rhythms and vocals are beautiful here. I love the flow of it all. Griftefrid gets a bit of black metal influence showing in it, which is quite cool. Solid song in the end.

O, Tysta Ensamhet is a calm break from the heavy stuff, at least for the opening which features some nice acoustic guitar and violin. It ramps things up a few times and is generally great. Vid Rosornas Grav sounds closer to some standard folk metal songs but there is a charm to it and I like the song. Grimborg is overall strong, but the chorus has some weird rhythms to it that just don’t work for me. It’s like trying to squeeze too much into a small space. I also really, really dislike the ending. There is a random yell as the instruments end and I don’t know how it ever got onto the final album.

Herr Peder Och Hans Syster has a neat intro and transition into the heavier part. The song goes on a bit too long I think but it’s nice. Eklundapolskan is a really fun, upbeat instrumental. It’s here and then it’s gone and it lifts your spirits. Grimasch Om Morgonen is a short softer track. It’s enjoyable but doesn’t stick with me much. Fru Silfver is quite fun. I love the intro and the rest of the song holds up too. Gammal Fäbodpsalm is a nice ending track for the main album, dark and slightly ominous.

Black Widow is the first track sung in English. The same goes for the next three and their respective tracks. Pretty much all of what I already said about them can apply, including that clunky part in Grimborg. That stupid yell at the end is also hanging around. Overall I enjoy this a lot but not too many of the songs get stuck in my head. The album also feels lopsided, with a couple short tracks and the only instrumentals being near the end. Very solid though.

Final Rating: 8/10
