Deathlike Silence begins the album in a huge way. The intro is catchy and everything that follows (not just the song, the whole album) is unbelievably good. This is melodic black metal at its finest, with catchy guitar melodies, cool synths in the backgrounds, good but not overpowering drums, and a bass that is audible. The vocals also work exceedingly well, and the whole atmosphere is a like a fuzzy winter, where the snow blocks your view.

…Et Les Anges Périrent Sous La Neige has some slower moments which help set things apart, and is a great song overall. Through The Veils Of Frost is fantastic as well, just as catchy and fun to hear as the other tracks. Cohort continues the trend of good songs and doesn’t let up. Winter Eternal is simply great.

From The Deepest Pits Of Hell is fun, especially when the title of the song is said. Tombworld is a step up though. Gateways To The World Of Lucifer is fantastic and the lyrics are dark but I kind of find them funny. Tormentor I is a Tormentor cover, and it’s quite a bit of fun. This album is really solid, but I can’t give it the highest marks. It feels a bit samey, and by the two-thirds mark I start to lose some interest, but these last few songs kind of pull it together.

Final Rating: 8/10
